Mickiv “Hope” x Sunaryo: Coma Black

“Monument of Sense” is a collaborative artistic exploration by Sunaryo and Arkiv Vilmansa, two infuential Indonesian artists. This thought-provoking Vinyl Art Sculpture (VAS) delves into the complex interplay of human perception, spirituality, and cultural identity. Sunaryo, known for his multidisciplinary approach that blends traditional Indonesian aesthetics with modern techniques, and Arkiv, who integrates pop culture elements with fne art infuences, invite viewers to reassess how they experience the world.

The collaboration features a playful exchange of artistic terminology, as Arkiv uses the term “Vinyl Art Sculpture” while Sunaryo refers to the pieces as “dolls.” This humorous interplay, along with the artists’ coining of the term “Sunarkiv” (a blend of their names), refects the fuid nature of art and the dynamic interplay of individual artistic perspectives.

“Monument of Sense” challenges viewers to consider how ephemeral sensory experiences can be transformed into enduring narratives. The title itself captures this duality, merging “Monument” with “Sense” to symbolize the interplay of memory, knowledge, and the passage of time.

The work ultimately serves as a contemplative experience that invites viewers to engage with the complex tapestry of cultural identity, spiritual refection, and human perception. It underscores the power of art to transcend simple visual appeal and become a medium through which profound dialogues about our understanding of reality and existence can unfold.
